Sunt persoane care spun că poate fi citit 42 de zile de 33 de ori zilnic (anii Domnului Iisus Hristos) sau de 66 de ori (anii Maicii Domnului). 99 reprezintă suma anilor trăiți pe pământ de Ei.
CANON: de 99 de ori – 42 de zile
Se așază pe o masă icoana Maicii Domnului, iar în fața ei o candelă aprinsă.
Se iau 99 de boabe de fasole (albe, mari) sau un metanier ale cărui noduri să fie 99.
Se stă în genunchi și se rostește pe rând:
Rugăciunea „Tatăl Nostru”.
Rugăciunea inimii: „Doamne Iisus Hristoase, Fiul lui Dumnezeu, pentru rugăciunile Preacuratei Maicii Tale și ale tuturor Sfinților Tăi, miluiește-mă pe mine păcătosul/păcătoasa”.
Rugăciunea personală, adică dorința fiecăruia, o singură cerere care se repetă la fiecare set de rugăciune, în total de 99 de ori. De exemplu: „Dă-ne Doamne sănătate, iertarea păcatelor, dezleagă-ne de farmece, izbăvește-ne de vrăjmași sau altă dorință spre mântuire.
Se ia o boabă de fasole și se pune deoparte sau se dă un nod de pe metanier. Acesta reprezentând un set.
Se procedează la fel, până la 99, rostindu-se pe rând cele trei rugăciuni (Tatăl Nostru, Rugăciunea Inimii și Rugăciunea personală).
Important este să se numere boabele de fasole, de fiecare dată, atât la începutul canonului cât și la terminarea lui pentru a avea siguranța că s-au rostit rugăciunile de 99 de ori.
Dacă din motive serioase nu se poate face canonul într-o zi anume, ziua respectivă nu se ia în calcul, însă se continuă rugăciunea astfel încât să se încheie un canon complet, de 42 de zile.
